TULUM
Tulum is located in the state of Quintana Roo on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula on the Caribbean Sea. Tulum basically consists of a real naturally grown town with locals and the beach bar and hotel area along the coast and the beach. In between there is a large area full of new hotels and modern and unusual Airbnbs. The area is not yet finished and much is still under construction. The roads have not yet been laid out and are currently gravel roads with huge water-filled holes that make driving very, very difficult. The facilities are beautifully designed with rooftop pools, other pool complexes, private pools, gyms in the middle of the jungle that runs through the area and lines the streets and accommodation. Tulum, and especially the areas along the coast, is decorated in a unique boho style and boho chic, which creates the whole atmosphere of Tulum.
Tulum is famous for der extraordinary beachbars with classy Partys and very good and famous DJs. We really never saw places like this, the wooden archtecture is just amazing. There is one next to the other but to name some of the best it´s Kanaan and Azulik.
JUNGLE GYM TULUM
The Jungle Gym is a really unusual fitness studio. There are two jungle gyms in Tulum that belong together. One in the city, the Jungle Gym Pueblo and one right on the beach. It's a liitle bit better for training in the city. It has almost everything there is on the beach and more since it's bigger and there's a second level with a boxing ring and the best butt-busting machines I've ever found. They are designmaschine just perfect and go exactly where they should. A standing abductor machine and a hip thrust machine that are simply perfect in their execution.
The Jungle Gym on the beach naturally scores points with its view of the Caribbean Sea and you can also train there in a bikini if you want. The location is of course fantastic. On the beach there are also bars for calisthenics right on the sandy beach. What makes both jungle gyms so special is that all the equipment is made of wood and the weights are made of stones. You have a lot of places for Acai Bowls and healthy food in Tulum. We tried around 8 different places for Acai and tell you some of them.
Matcha Mama
Matcha Mama has the best quality of Acai we tried. It`s very clean and you have the real taste of Acai. Matcha Mama has like the name says a lot of amazing fancy drinks with Matcha. You definitely have to try the coconut water, it tastes fantastic.
Kaapeh
The bowls in Kaapeh are more mixed and don't contain as much acai but contain ingredients like coconut and a lot more and are absolutely delicious with great creations. There is a great breakfast selection here.
Ahau Beachbar
the Ahau is a very nice boho hotel on the beach with a restaurant and a kind of beach bar where you can get healthy things like acai bowls. The Acai Bowl here is the largest and the Acai portion is also very good. The best thing is, you sit in a great setting directly on the beach and sea.
Cenotes
One of the essential things to do in Tulum is visit its cenotes and swim in its crystal clear waters since it is one of the main attractions. You will find them of various types: open, closed, semi-open cenotes... of different depths and with different activities.
Cenotes are very deep water wells, which are fed by the filtration of rain and the currents of the rivers that originate in the heart of the earth. These natural lakes arose when the karst rock dissolved through an acidification process, producing stalactites and stalagmites in many cases. Over the years, these caves cannot support the weight of the roof and end up collapsing.
The word cenote comes from the Mayan word dzonot, which means “cavern with water.” For them they were sacred places, the entrance to the underworld where the rain god lived and that is why they were used as ceremonial places where offerings and sacrifices were made.
Nowadays they are used as natural pools, in most of which you can bathe as long as you pay an entrance fee.

Isla Mujeres
Based on many recommendations, we went to Isla Mujeres. There are various ferries from Cancun. We decided to take a car ferry to take our car with us. But it is not necessary to bring your own car because you can rent a golf car anywhere on the island, which is what most people do. because you see the little golf cars everywhere. The island is famous for its beautiful beaches. However, I have to say, the island and beaches are completely overcrowded. The water is incredibly beautiful and you can walk endlessly into the sea. The best part of the day is just before sunset, because that's when the beaches empty out and it's not as crowded anymore.
